Post image for Hair Removal For African Americans

African American men and women are just as interested in hair removal techniques as people of other races. However, due to several different factors, black people may have a more difficult time with hair removal procedures. Hair removal techniques that work fine for other people may damage or discolor African American skin.

Many chemical hair removal products, such as creams or gels, may damage your skin. Many of these chemicals can be incredibly caustic. These chemicals usually shouldn’t make contact with the skin for a prolonged period of time regardless of your skin color, but African Americans have to be especially mindful of this. Darker skin tends to dry out quicker than lighter skin, and is often more sensitive. Chemical burns, peeling skin, and rashes are some of the maladies that hair removal gels and creams may inflict upon some African Americans.

Thankfully, over the years, several chemical hair removal products have been developed especially with African Americans in mind. They’re not very hard to find, either. Many department stores sell them, as do many beauty stores such as Sally. If you are having difficulty finding chemical hair removal products especially for African Americans, try the web.

African Americans may also have difficulty with laser hair removal as well. Darker skin tones absorb more of the laser light. There are a number of complications that may occur because of this. Due to the high concentration of melanin in dark skin, the laser may cause the melanin to become unstable. This can create odd patches of skin discoloration that are not easily treated. Likewise, laser hair removal can create irritation or inflammation for African Americans.

Some laser hair removal facilities have settings especially for those with darker skin. However, these hair removal procedures have a lower success rate for removing hair permanently. Also, the availability and efficacy of laser hair removal specially catering to African Americans varies from location to location. There’s no real standard. So, if these hair removal techniques haven’t worked for you, don’t despair.

If you are in desperate need for hair removal, you can always go with more traditional methods. Waxing and using tweezers don’t cause any more damage on African Americans than they do on anyone else. Of course, both of these methods can be a little painful. The pain doesn’t last very long, and as long as your hair removal attempts are executed safely, will not cause any permanent damage to your skin or other organs.

Nads Solution

June 30, 2010

Years ago a chemist by the name of Nadine Ismiel hated how much hassle women have to go through just for smooth legs. With everything she learned in chemistry, she created a hair removal product called Nads. Her product was designed to remove unwanted hair quickly and prevent them from coming back within a week or two. Today, Nads is the best selling hair removal products for men and women. Their two best selling products for women are the hand free melon cream and the no heat hair removal kit.

Unlike most waxing gels, you have to heat up the gels so it would melt into a mesh for easy application, but Nads’ wax stay a constant soft, so you do not have to spend the extra five minute heating it before use every time. Most wax distributor express that their products will break hair bonds, causing hairs to fall out more easily when pulling off the wax strips. Meanwhile, Nads’ wax binds to the roots, which allow you to pull your whole hair up with the strips instead of just the part sticking up from your skin. As a result, your lets will feel smoother and up to 6 weeks.

The melon cream, besides from the obvious, it smells like melon, is a combination of melon, honey and chamomile to protect your skin from all that the environment has to offer. The best part about this product is the fact that it requires no strips or razors. Simply apply the cream on the hairs that you would like to remove and after 5 minutes, just wipe the cream away with a cloth and wash your skin. No more cuts from razors, no more wincing when you pull off the strips and definitely no more hesitation when you see some excess hairs growing.

We may live in a double standard society, but in the world of Nads products, men have their own line of Nads products. For swimmers, weightlifters, cyclists, etc, Nads also created the no heat wax gel for when men need to be clean too. However, unlike the women’s version of the product, the men’s no heat gel will keep hair off for up to 8 weeks. The men version of the hand free cream is also available but of course without the smell of melon. This products works on arms, hands, face, just about anywhere you can think of.

Ladies, if you love your men hairless, you should introduce them to Nads. Nads is painless and quick, so they won’t feel like they just spent two hours at some girly spa. Oh and did I mention that Nads is not tested on animals?

In the competitive world of business, everyone always tries to make their products stand out from the rest. This could be something simple as including a free gift, or as complicated as using materials not found in any other products. Similarly, Sally Hansen started out as a nails supplies creator, but now the corporation has transformed into a beauty supply branch, with not only nail care products but also tanning, foot care, lip care and wax products. Besides having a whole sally store, Sally Hansen products are sold at various stores around the country. However, to prove they can manage other beauty products besides nail products, they have to prove they have that something that no one else does.

In this case, we will analyze their wax products. Not far from other waxing products, Sally was kits include natural ingredients that nourish the skin as well as slow down the hair growing process. Yet what makes their kits different is the scent of lavender, their choice to add lavender allows consumers to remember them whenever they smell lavender.

Another quality from Sally Hansen is the promise to quickly remove hair. Their formulas are designed to quickly remove hair and then easily come off your skin so you do not have to spend all your time trying to get the remaining wax off your skin, especially when it comes to facial hair, you do not need to have left over residue.

As compared to products like Gigi, Sally Hansen wax products are much cheaper. This due to the fact that salons and nail shops generally uses Gigi while Sally Hansen products are more for those who do not have time to schedule an appointment at salons. Since Sally wax is not used by beauticians at salons, the price is kicked down a few steps to allow more sells. They might not be used in salons, but in a troubling economic time, cheaper will always be better.

Lastly, the final reason why Sally Hansen wax products stand out over the rest, the non requirement for cloth strips while using the facial hair removal kit. Generally, you apply on wax, then the strips and finally pull off the strips to remove the hair. Yes, the painful part of the whole waxing procedure. However, Hansen designers understand how gentle your face is and how the pain from the strip pulling could intentionally burn your skin. They decided to create a formula that will apply gently on your skin, and when you wipe off the wax, the hair will come with.

It seems Sally Hansen has proven their potential to dominate the business world of beauty with their collection of beauty products. You do not have to be an instant fan because of this little opinion of Sally Hair Removal Products, but for sure you will be noticing Hansen products whenever you walk around a store.

Schick Your Intuition

June 24, 2010

It’s Monday morning – you have drool on your face, your paper work is scattered on the ground, and that morning stubble that just makes you feel hideous. With our busy lives, its hard enough to make time for breakfast, how are we suppose to take an extra 15 minutes everyday in the shower to make sure our legs are presentable to the world? Luckily, scientists have developed newer ways for us to speed up our lives, specifically with the invention of the Schick Intuition for us women.

Embedded within a bar of enriched Aloe and Vitamin E, the four blades will bring you the closest shave ever. According to the Schick company, their Intuition razors are supposed to keep you legs hair free longer than the average razor. While the blades themselves are designed to last much longer than those cheap razors you pick up at convenience stores. You will only need to change the cartridge when you can see the green moisture bar coming through the blades, this means the blades has been worn out so the bar underneath it is showing.

For those with sensitive skin, The Intuition comes in fragrance free, hypoallergenic aloe to protect those sensitive legs. If you pick the refreshing moisture version, you will be awake every morning with the scent of fresh cucumber and melon. Whichever you decide, the Intuition will help you make those Monday mornings a little bit easier.

Girls have curves, from the curves of our sides to the way our legs curve. Keeping that in mind, creators specifically designed the Intuition to have a slight angle on the head. This allows the blade to curve along with you legs while you shave, reaching those hard to reach areas.

As great as I made the Intuition out to be, I have not yet mentioned the best part about this product, it does not require shaving cream. Yes, no more hassle with the shaving cream that eventually spread everywhere and you have to make sure you wash all the cream off before leaving the shower. The Intuition is designed to work with only water, so you can apply water and shave. Some of you might wonder if that would increase the chances of razor burn or cuts. Actually no, the Intuition is very gentle on you skin and the moisture bar that surrounds it will nurture your skin to avoid cuts.

Let’s get this out of the way, I am not a fan of shaving, however I do sometimes contradict myself by shaving because it is much faster and can be less painful than waxing. I am a fan of Nair but Nair products are expensive as compare to Skintimate products and Nair can be very harsh on your skin with all the chemicals it has

A razor can only get so close before it cuts your skin, so it is recommended girls shave with a hypoallergenic shave cream or shave gel that is less irritating on the skin. Shave cream allows the blade to get closer to the hairs without ever scratching your skin because it covers your skin with a slippery layer, navigating the blades towards the roots of the hairs.

One of the new but already gaining demand products is the Skintimate moisturizing cream shave collection. In the collection, you can choose from three very different but all very helpful shaving creams. For the general public with normal skin, there is the Revitalizing, containing exfoliating pearls verbena, olive butter and antioxidant white tea. Not only will you be getting the closest shave a razor can get but the additional ingredients listed will bring moisture to your skin, leaving your skin feeling soft to the touch.

For those will sensitive skin, as the ones who bleed from a scratch, the Extra Gentle with soothing pearls blended with olive butter, soy vitamin E and aloe vera will prevent any harmful scratch to the skin. If it so happen you do accidentally cut your sensitive skin, the soothing pearls will react to heal the cut faster as well as aloe vera nourishing it from infections. Lastly, and the one I personally like, is the Dry Skin Cashmere Rain. Enriched with soy, white tea and olive butter, this cream will soften you skin while you shave. I have dry scaly skin naturally, but after I shave with the Cashmere Rain my skin feels instantly softer as if I didn’t shave at all but instead just applied on some lotion.

Next to the shave cream is the Skintimate Shave Gel which foams when you apply so it looks like a cream. Similar to the creams, the gels comes in three types: sensitive, dry and normal skins. However, unlike the creams, the gels mainly consist of Vitamin E which indeed does make you skin softer, it does not protect you from irritation or cuts. If you cut yourself, which is rare while using the Skintimate Gels but it can still happen, your cut will not be nourish until it heals with pearls and aloe vera.

This is not because Skintimate decided to be cheap and leave those ingredients out for the gels, but in fact it was due to the gel will allow a much closer shave than the cream and provides a much more comfortable shave than the creams. Whether you are a shave cream advocate or a shave gel lover, Skintimate has something in store for each and everyone of you.

As a curse from society, every woman in the United States has to shave their legs at least twice a week. However, shaving only hides your ugly side for a day then causes you problems 2 days later. Even with the rich Aloe and Vitamin E conditioner around the blade, razors ultimately irritate your skin. You see, when using a razor, you are actually slicing off the tip of you hairs. Let’s pretend you take a piece of paper, and just slide it straight and fast down the middle. If you feel the newly cut edges on that piece of paper, you will feel the roughness left behind by the blade you used. The same situation occurs when you shave; the left over hair (just above your skin) now has a rough edge and will continue to grow out with that rough edge. This is why you feel the rough stumble on your legs just a few days after shaving, so you are obligated to shave more. It’s an endless cycle really.

This is why Nair has become so popular among Women. Most Nair shave cream comes with a bladeless razor to help women avoid pricking a finger while touching their own legs. Nair lotions contains a substance called depilatories, which chemically breaks bonds between hair, making them bridle so just one touch could make them fall off your legs.

Since Nair has a chemical strong enough to break hair bonds, they already consider how that chemical will effect our skins. It may be shaving cream, but Nair hired some scientists to handle these problems. Ah, the science of hair removing. Along with depilatories, Nair creams exfoliate your legs by removing dead skin cells once the hair is gone.

Speaking of chemicals in Nair, as safe as they are, they were created with the general public in mind. This means they should work but there is always a chance they will not work for you. Nair professionals recommend you do patch tests, just apply the cream on a small section of your leg first, before you go all out and apply some layers on your legs. Even those who have used Nair all their lives, Nair will come out with some new products that you would like to try but again just because one product worked for you does not mean all products work for you, so you should do the recommended patch test too before you jump into switching your daily Nair products.

These products may have a lot going on inside, they are all designed to not alter your hair growth what so ever. Everyone always says once you start shaving, your hair will grow in thicker and longer. Yes, that is very much true, but with Nair creams you can reduce the thickness of the hair. We have already sacrificed the fact that our hair will never grow as slow as they did when we hit puberty, but we can at least prevent growing ourselves some sea urchins on our legs.

In the 1980s Neet was the leading over the counter hair removal product. It was advertised and promoted heavily in magazines like Cosmopolitan, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Good Housekeeping and thus was purchased by droves of young and older women looking to eliminate unsightly hair on their face and body. Now, fast forward to 2010 and the over the counter hair removal product space has expanded exponentially.  Over the counter hair removal isn’t just about Neet anymore – today, there are literally hundreds of products to choose from that are available from a wide variety of sources.

As there are a great many over the counter hair removal products available at your pharmacy, grocery store online and from your neighborhood snake charmer or door to door salesman, choosing one has gotten more and more difficult as time has rolled on. Personally, I recommend visiting your pharmacist and taking advantage of their free advice on the matter rather than just grabbing whatever is on sale or being pushed on you from some random wandering charlatan that knocks on your door. Wouldn’t you rather take the advice of someone who isn’t incentivized on how much or which product they sell over a salesman that may have little to no health and safety training and is only motivated by the almighty dollar?

Pharmacists are highly educated in many areas and have your health and safety in mind first and foremost, rather than sales & profits from pushing one brand over another. There is much that is wrong with business and health care in America today, but this is one aspect that is still in our favor, for the most part, so you would be well advised to take advantage of this benefit while we still have free access to it, yes? They can tell you the possible pluses and minuses of the available over the counter products versus prescription options. Then, once you’ve found an over the counter hair removal product you trust and like, then you can start looking for it on sale on the web or at your local dollar store. If you want to remove hair in your bikini area, face or other highly sensitive area, be sure to mention this to your pharmacist so they can take that into consideration. In those cases they may recommend a hypoallergenic or sensitive skin friendly product that will be gentler on those more delicate areas of your body so you can avoid rashes, burns or worse, permanent skin discoloration and damage.

Laser Hair Removal

May 26, 2010

Laser hair removal is one of the more recent technological developments in the past two decades and it is definitely worth considering if you have some problem hair areas you would like to remedy. Unsightly hair can be a nuisance and an embarrassment indeed and it’s understandable that when you make the decision to have it removed, you feel the urge to act swiftly. But there are many health, safety and aesthetic concerns to consider before jumping into the laser hair removal world head first.

Check References
Lasers are powerful and convenient, yet they also can be  highly dangerous when not operated correctly. You need to make sure your hair removal consultant uses lasers that are constantly tuned, cleaned and checked for irregularities or problems. Ask your friends, neighbors, hair stylist or doctor and also be sure to check reviews on the internet and in local newspapers and magazines. You’ve had this hair your whole life or much of your life and it obviously took you some time to get to the point of being fed up and wanting it removed. So don’t rush your decision on choosing your method or your provider of that method. You’ve had the hair for months and years, so you may as well take an extra week or two to make an informed decision, right?

Eye Protection

If you are considering visiting a hair removal specialist that utilizes lasers, ask what kind of protection they offer for your eyes. You don’t want to end up like Kramer and get your rods and cones all messed up like happened to him from the glowing red light Kenny Roger’s Roasters sign.  You’ve only got one pair of eyes and even one flicker of a laser into them can result in permanent damage to your eyes and lead to vision problems or worse. So if you talk to a laser hair removal consultant and they laugh off your query about eye protection, move on to the next one, and don’t settle until you’ve found a laser hair removal specialist that takes your eye safety seriously.

Once you have allayed the above concerns and you are comfortable with what you have found, then jump in head first and get that unsightly, pain in the butt hair out of your life forever and then you can look forward to many days, months and years of health, happiness and, in the areas that you want it, hairlessness.
