With laser hair removal being one of the most popular cosmetic treatments of our time, competition has increased and prices have lowered. While laser hair removal might still come off as an expensive treatment, many people are surprised to learn that it is something they can actually afford. While the term expensive has a different meaning to everyone, many people would agree that laser hair removal is no longer reserved for the rich, but can be afforded by more people than ever.

Laser hair removal is often more expensive per treatment than both shaving and waxing, but can save money in the long run, as the goal in laser hair removal is permanent reduction. The American Society of Plastic Surgeons has estimated the national average of laser hair removal cost to be $429. However, it is important to note that this is just an average and some people will pay more while others will pay less.

Every laser hair removal clinic has their own fees that they charge based on a number of factors. But many clinics will want to see you before giving out prices, and most offer a free consultation where this can be discussed. Generally speaking, the smaller the area is, the less it will cost. For example, deciding to treat the underarms will cost less than treating the whole back.

But size is not the only factor. Cost will also depend on how dense the hair is. Some clients have much more hair in any given area than other clients, which might require a longer session to target all hairs. Costs will also wary depending on geography, as someone living in a suburban area might have to pay more, or less, than someone living in a big city. It all depends and prospective laser hair removal clients are free to compare prices between different laser hair removal clinics.

While a few laser hair removal clinics might charge based on the time it took them to conduct the session or on how many pulses they used, the most common form of charging is a flat fee per treatment, or a package of treatments. While it is not possible to say exactly how much someone will have to spend on laser hair removal, smaller areas can run a couple of hundred dollars, while larger areas can reach a few thousands. Nowadays, some clinics offer a flat rate to treat the entire body, and when laser hair removal sessions are purchased in a package, the client often gets a discount.

While it may seem tempting to shop around for the laser hair removal clinic with the cheapest prices, cheapest is not always best. Make sure that the clinic you choose carries the latest laser hair removal machines and that their staff is highly experienced. Less efficient laser hair removal machines could require more sessions. And while laser hair removal may not be cheap to everyone, it is certainly more affordable than ever.
