Many individuals who frequently remove their unwanted hair are used to the instant gratification: seeing the hairs being removed the second they want to. But in contrast to most of these hair removal methods, laser hair removal does not extract the hairs immediately. The client will instead need to wait until the hairs are pushed out by the skin, but once they are the skin should stay smooth for weeks to come.
The reason why hairs are not extracted immediately is because laser hair removal works very differently from other hair removal methods. While traditional hair removal methods such as shaving and waxing makes the hairs go away instantly laser hair removal destroys the hair but the dead hair sits in the root until the body recognizes that it is dead and makes it fall out. This usually takes between 10 days and 2 weeks. Once the dead hairs fall out the client will enjoy their smooth skin until most or some of the hair grows back and it is time for another laser session.
Laser hair removal devices are real lasers and reach a very high degree of heat while they are in use. This heat is needed to destroy the hairs and laser hair removal would not be efficient without it. The laser hair removal practitioner will release a laser pulse about one second at a time until the whole area has been treated. The hairs cannot withstand the heat from the laser device and will burn to the point of being completely damaged. However, the hairs never fall out right away but take some time to do that.
Immediately after a laser hair removal clients will notice that the hair is still there. But this is not a reason to feel disappointed or think that the treatment didn’t work. The hairs that have been treated are severely damaged and cannot grow any longer. They will eventually become dislodged but during this time the client should let the body do the job and try not to extract the hairs by themselves as this can disturb the process.
Laser hair removal can safely and efficiently remove unwanted hairs for a longer period of time, as long as the practitioner who will be performing the treatment is experienced enough. Once hairs have fallen out and new hairs start growing back the client should schedule another session. Several sessions will most likely be required in order to permanently reduce the hair. Also, anyone considering laser hair removal will need to have some patience, because the whole process works different from traditional hair removal methods and usually takes several months to finish.
